In 2021 the Iron Bridge FMG Project was massive and this cargo of four x 4MVA Transformers (in guage, loaded in 40 open tops) was commissioned by Toshiba overseas and needed urgently, via container shipping. The nominated freight forwarder of the Australian Supplier were struggling to source the specialist container equipment neccessary, as well as space on vessels for the next month, and the consequential losses for non-supply of power on this project were enormous.

We got work and looked at every option, setting on container shipping being the best solution to prevent the dire consequences of delaying shipping. Our agent at origin pre-pulled the special equipment from 1000km during extensive flooding and equipment shortages, and we had these four containers on their way to Toshiba for loading and lashing.

Our work however was not done, as once the units were gated in and loaded, the shipping line rolled the containers through the transhipment port and had them primed to sit in Singapore for a month over Christmas.

Once again, we sprung into action with the shipping line and our network in Europe – a huge number of middle of the night phone calls, virtual meetings and email chains later we had the shipment loaded on the original vessel.

From the clients end we were able to keep the spotlight on the cargo with daily updates, minimising their stress so they could focus on their project delivery schedule and not have to be bogged down by background drama.
