Update on Network Closure (East/West) Flooding Rawlinna WA as of 28th March

We are delighted to announce that the East-West network will resume rail traffic on Saturday, March 30th.

Following an extended closure, our primary focus is to swiftly return to Business as Usual. This involves clearing our network of stabled trains and our terminals of containers.

Due to various train placements during the closure period, some containers are not on the same train as they originated. Please consult Freight Web for updated arrival details at the container level for Perth terminal. For assistance in locating the current or updated status of your bookings en-route, kindly reach out to our Customer Service Team.

To expedite the movement of our customers’ backlogs, an additional service from Melbourne to Perth (5MP6) will operate on Friday, April 5th.

As we progress towards resuming normal operations, we appreciate your cooperation with booking management.

Booking Management:

Advance Priority bookings will be honored on all reinstated services, excluding those allocated to clear stabled trains and terminal backlogs.
All East-West services will remain closed for bookings in Freight Web until backlogs are cleared.
Customers are advised to place capacity demand on Stand-by through Freight Web.

Our customer service teams will prioritize as capacity becomes available. This approach will facilitate demand planning to clear backlogs promptly.

We sincerely thank you for your patience and support during this closure.

Update on Network Closure (East/West) Flooding Rawlinna WA as of 22nd March

We regret to inform you that the E-W network will remain closed until at least Saturday, March 30th.

Regrettably, the water level is receding slower than anticipated, with a persistent depth of 1.2 meters in a significant portion of the track. The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is actively exploring various earthwork options to enhance drainage in the affected area, and we are fully supporting these efforts to expedite the reopening of the network.

Given this prolonged closure, we are coordinating the relocation of our trains to our terminals to facilitate the retrieval of containers, particularly Reefers. Please find below our plans to transfer trains from stabled locations to the Adelaide Freight Terminal and Parkes Freight Terminal. As these movements will commence over the weekend, and due to complexities in turning trains at Adelaide, we will provide Container Availability details as they become confirmed through our national communications and daily Bulletins.

All reefer containers will be offloaded from the trains. If you have ambient containers aboard these trains and wish to collect them, please liaise with our Customer Service center for Adelaide containers and our Sydney Customer Service center for Parkes containers to make suitable arrangements.

In consideration of prevailing industry challenges and to mitigate congestion while ensuring safe operations, we will enforce a complimentary collection period of arrival day plus three days. Following this grace period, standard daily storage charges outlined in our Infopak will be applicable.

A gentle reminder: All drivers must complete safety inductions before accessing the terminals. Access will only be granted to drivers with the requisite induction credentials. For assistance with driver induction at the Adelaide Freight Terminal, please contact our Customer Service team prior to terminal arrival.

We would like to highlight that our North-South services remain operational, and we can accommodate additional capacity for those seeking alternatives to transport road containers from Adelaide to Perth. Kindly reach out to your local Customer Service team or Sales Manager for assistance.

Our next update is scheduled for Monday, March 25th. we sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience caused to you and your customers due to this situation.

We regret to inform you that the E-W network will remain closed until at least Wednesday, March 27th. One significant body of water persists, and regrettably, it is not receding as rapidly as anticipated. Despite this challenge, We are actively supporting ballast work in accessible areas and remains committed to expediting the reopening of our network.

Currently, two trains are inaccessible, while containers from an additional two trains can be accessed at the Adelaide Freight Terminal.

We will diligently monitor reefers for fuel requirements. Should you receive any reefer alerts, we kindly request that you promptly engage with your local customer service team to facilitate necessary actions.

A friendly reminder: All drivers must complete safety inductions before gaining access to the terminals. We have observed an uptick in drivers arriving at AFT to collect containers without the requisite induction credentials. Access to any  terminal will strictly be granted to drivers possessing the correct induction credentials. For assistance with inducting your drivers into AFT, please reach out to our Customer Service team prior to terminal arrival.
